Lady Devils crush Baldwin County

A team effort proved to be the difference in the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils 53-35 victory over the Baldwin County Lady Tigers at ECHS on Saturday.
Eight players scored for the Blue Devils, who improved to 7-3, 0-0 on the season.
Blue Devils guard Lateasha Lee led ECHS with 16 points in the victory. Lee also recorded two rebounds and one assist.
ECHS head coach Ray Greer said his team is steadily continuing to improve and showed it against the Lady Tigers.
ECHS forward Courtney English scored nine points for the Lady Blue Devils, while recording six rebounds, two steals, two assists and one block.
Lady Blue Devils guard Jodeci Craft added nine points for ECHS, and she also` pulled down four rebounds, picked off three steals and served up two assists.
Greer said the play by Lee, English and Craft helped set the tone for the game.
Guard Tiarra Ankum scored seven points for ECHS, while guards Megan Hartley and Canausha Crenshaw added six points apiece. Hartley recorded two rebounds, one steal and one assist. Crenshaw pulled down three boards and had one assist.
Forwards Brittney Martin and Jordan Jaye added to the scoring and played strong defense for the Lady Blue Devils. Martin scored four points, while posting three rebounds and three blocks. Jaye scored two points; recorded two rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Greer said the Lady Blue Devils would continue to work on improving their free throws and look towards this weekend’s county tournament.

Lady Blue Devils 54
Escambia County’s Lady Blue Devils fell short against the Hillcrest-Evergreen Lady Jaguars last Thursday night losing 61-54 at ECHS.
Lady Blue Devils forward Courtney English led ECHS with 14 points against the Lady Jaguars. English pulled down seven boards and had two assists in the game.
ECHS guard Canausha Crenshaw put up 13 points for the home team, while nabbing six rebounds, two steals and passing out an assist.
Lady Blue Devils head coach Ray Greer said Hillcrest presented a great match up for his team, and added that it was a good game all around.
Lady Blue Devils forward Jordan Jaye scored 10 points for ECHS and recorded four rebounds. Guard Lateasha Lee added eight points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal in the loss.
Guard Tiarra Ankum scored four points for ECHS and posted one rebound. Guards Jodeci Craft and Megan Hartley each scored three points for the Lady Blue Devils. Craft had one assist and one steal, while Hartley pulled down four rebounds, one steal and one block.
Forward Brittney Martin scored three points; pulled down nine rebounds; blocked two shots and stole a pass.
Greer said he was pleased with the effort put out by his team, and added his team will just need to play even harder to put wins on the board against tough competition.
