Sitting around the table with family and friends is common practice for most during the holidays, but for some it might be a much more solitary event.
This is why the Grace Fellowship Youth Group is again providing a free meal to the elderly and those who will be alone on Christmas.
Last year was the first year for the event, and 88 meals were served by pick-up and delivery.
As of Tuesday there had already been more than 40 reservations made.
Hochstetler said the main people they are reaching out to are the elderly, especially those who are unable to cook for themselves.
Lacey Hochstetler, Carol’s daughter and a member of the youth group, participated in the event last year.
Lacey Hochstetler added it was rewarding to meet the people they were serving.
Carol Hochstetler said a popular part of last year’s meal was the compact disc given out with it that contained a message from the church.
The last day to sign up for the traditional Christmas meal is Friday, Dec. 19.
To sign up or for more information call Carol Hochstetler at 368-5722.
