Atmore Sports Rewind 2008

Sports are always exciting even if the outcome is not exactly what the fans want.
The year 2008 was an up and down year in the sports world for Atmore.
Some teams won it all and others lost everything, but the fans always showed up to cheer them on.
Cal Ripken baseball was in control over the summer, and several games were key in determining the champions.
Visits from athletes, coaches and memorabilia made the city come to life even more.
Twelve months of sports took this city by storm, and gives the fans in Atmore much to look forward to as 2009 has started.
It should be an exciting year, but while it starts enjoy looking back at last year’s important happenings.

The Escambia County Blue Devils kicked off their 2008 season, which was a return to Class 5A.
September
Former Blue Devils standout Jerrod Jefferson visited ECHS’s game against T.R. Miller. Jefferson now plays football for Coahoma Junior College.
