Still my kind of people

Seven months have passed since I began my life in Atmore and it has been a really great journey.
This is still one of the friendliest places I have ever been to and the people still wave to me as I drive down the street.
I have met a lot of people and have made several friends along the way.
Last year at this time, I was preparing for my final year of college and wondering if I would even have a job a year from then. I never knew I would end up in such a great place with such great people.
People always ask if it’s a culture shock or a tough adjustment moving from Birmingham to Atmore, but if anything this move has been much easier than living in Birmingham.
It’s not hard to call Atmore home now.
I really have a great support system that has only grown since I first started here at the Advance.
Everyone I work with makes me feel at home and have become like my extended family.
In the last month I began dating an Atmore girl. Jordan has helped the transition to Atmore even smoother by introducing me to more people. Being around her family makes it even better because it gives me that family environment that I don’t have with all of my family still in Birmingham.
My moving down here has even been great for my parents. They like to get out of the city and this gives them a reason to.
My dad goes to Mobile for the Coast Guard every month and his trips are more fun since we can hang out.
I just have so much do in this small city that I never get bored.
Leadership Atmore is probably one of the coolest things I have ever been apart of.
The experience so far has been great and I see people from my class everywhere.
It’s nice to be out at a restaurant or a grocery store and be able to say hey to someone.
The next few months that we are in Leadership are sure to be fun because the sessions seem to get better every time we meet.
I was able to visit the Wind Creek Casino last week and that was a blast. The Grill was a great place to eat at and I look forward to visiting it again soon.
The city must be getting better though because I just bought a house and extremely excited about getting a place I can call my own.
It’s really hard to get bored here if you think about it. Being an hour away from two larger cities and the beach. That’s hard to beat.
So, Atmore is now my home and I still love every minute of it. It’s nice to get out of here every once and a while, but I still have a lot of fun here.
This is still my kind of place and you are still my kind of people.
