Residents voice concerns over Hwy. 31 changes
Admit it, in the past couple of months you’ve been traveling Hwy. 31 and when you inevitably were slowed down because of construction you felt or said some not so nice things about who you thought was responsible.
Well, if you were frustrated with anyone it should have been with the Alabama Department of Transportation, not the city as many of us have heard, but putting aside your frustration you should be grateful to the state for working to make our roadways safer and more attractive.
According to an ALADOT representative, a study was done in the past year covering the entire stretch of Hwy. 31 in our area and found it to not only be in serious need of resurfacing, but also that it would be a much safer route with the added turn lane.
No matter how you feel though, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that paving for the main road will be finished by the end of the week.
There will still be some side roads and driveways that have to be worked on and the final permanent painting of the lines will still have to be done, but we are in the home stretch and hopefully we will all have a little less road rage as we travel Hwy. 31.
So next time, be sure who the responsible party is before pointing a finger.
