ATMORE - Mrs. Earnestine McCants Lindsey was born on Nov. 27, 1939 in Camden. She departed her life unto Jesus on Jan. 24, 2009.
She attended Escambia County Training School in Atmore. She attended Daniel Payne College in Birmingham, Allen University in South Carolina and Faulkner College where she received her Associate Art Degree. She worked with the Escambia County Board of Education for 30 years. She was a member of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church. She served on the Usher Board, Steward Board and Sunday School Superintendent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy C. Lindsey; her father, Curtis McCants; her mother, Jenice Matthews; her sister, Barbara Watts Powers; her brother, Donnie Matthews; her daughter, Sheila Chambers and her son, Jimmy Darrin Lindsey.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories 8 daughters, Stephanie Lindsey of Atmore, LaQuanda Lindsey of Montgomery, Lashunda (James) Wilson II of Atmore, Kimberly (Ray) Bullard of Atmore, April (John) Davis II of Birmingham, Ashley Lindsey of Montgomery, Sklyer Lindsey of Tuskegee and Chyla Lindsey of Atmore; 11 grandchildren, Lindsey Chamber, Luck Chambers Jr., Wesley Lindsey, James Wilson, Jaelon Wilson, Jamarri Wilson, Lasheila McBride, Bianca McBride, Carlos Tolbert and Donetra Bullard, all of Atmore and Janiya Davis of Birmingham; two great grandchildren, Trevon Howard VI and Brayden McBride; step children, Lorenzo Marshall of Walnut Hill, Fla., Sylvia Jordan of New Jersey, Windrick Mickerns of Los Angeles, Calif. and Gail Longmire of Atmore; one sister, Ethel Chmabliss; one aunt, Mrs. Ida Mae Singleton; a devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. Climmie Lindsey Johnson; sister-in-laws, Minnie Ellis, Carolyn (Mack) Salter, Fannie (Ernest) Marvin of Pensacola, Fla. and Gail Bowens, all of Atmore, Sandra Franklin of Pensacola, Fla., Belinda (William) Rummels of Augusta, Ga., Jackie Watson of Mobile, Dinah (Melvin) Fitzpatrick of San Antonio, Texas; one brother-in-law, Eddie (Shelly) Lindsey of Montgomery; one devoted son-in-law, Luck Chambers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special people she held close to her heart, David Robinson, Dane Robinson, Thomas Robinson Jr., Ladell McCants, Betty McCants Robinson and Willie C. Goldsmith.
