Changes will be made to the Northview Chiefs football schedule for the 2009 season after the Florida High School Athletic Association announced changes to its classification system.
The Chiefs will move from Class 2B to Class 1A, which will allow them to field eight district games.
Chiefs head coach Cody Keene said the change in classification is great for his team.
The district alignment, which was released on Jan. 16 places the Chiefs in a district with Baker, Bozeman, Holmes County, Jay, Sneads, South Walton and Vernon.
Keene said the changes will be good on a competitive basis as well as ease travel.
The Chiefs have been trying to drop to the 1A classification for the last couple of years, but have been unable to due to enrollment.
Northview athletic director Sammy Day said it is exciting for the school because of challenges they faced with scheduling.
