The 1998 Freightliner logging truck had just been put back on the road following a lightning strike two years ago, when it overturned at approximately 8:35 a.m. Monday morning spilling logs across Jack Springs Road.
Kelley’s Ambulance Service transported the driver of the truck, John Holland, to Atmore Community Hospital with unknown, but not life threatening injuries.
The truck is owned by Perritt Logging Inc. out of Pace, Fla. Business owner Winston Perritt was on the scene and said he has been in the business for many years and a truck overturning is an unusual occurrence.
Perritt said the load of logs would be moved to the side of the road until another truck could be by to pick them up.
According to the Evergreen State Trooper Post, the investigation is ongoing.
