FLOMATON - Mrs. Mary J. Griffis, 54, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 in Flomaton.
Mary was a native of Atmore, a resident of Flomaton for most of her life, a retired employee from Jay Hospital after 10 years and attended the Gospel Light Temple.
Her husband of 32 years, Joseph Wayne Griffis; her mother, Jewel Hanks and two brothers, Tony Hanks and Kenneth Hanks, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her son, Johnny Wayne Griffis of Flomaton; her daughter, Misty Griffis of Flomaton; two grandchildren, Tristan Portwood and Jon Jon Griffis and four sisters, Sara Waters of Flomaton, Glenda Averett of Citronelle, Genene Baggett of McCullough and Elizabeth Johnson of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Eddie Macks officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.
Visitation began at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 and will continue until funeral time at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bud Campbell, Greg Sims, Wade Harris, Chad Hanks, Dennis Griffis and Jamie Waters.
