Members of the Progressive Civic & Recrational Club (PCRC) met Sunday afternoon at Houston Avery Park to discuss the status of Atmore’s schools.
The hour-long meeting was led by Drug Education Council employee Vandlyn W. Pierre, who plans to work with the civic organization to establish a positive image campaign in hopes of combatting the negatives.
After several minutes of discussion including the positives and the negatives, including drugs and fighting, of the schools in Atmore, the group pinpointed the main problem, the parents.
The group agreed that the parents lack of discipline at home and involvement in schools was the root of the problems in the schools. They agreed to meet in the coming weeks and invite community leaders including pastors and principals in hopes of changing the environment.
