The athletics bus at Escambia Academy recently received a “Pimp My Ride” type renovation after a concerned parent took on the task of overhauling the bus inside and out.
Walter Wilson helped take the old school bus from looking outdated and overused to a cleaner, nicer ride for the Cougars athletes.
Wilson said he did not do the good deed for recognition, but to give something back to the hard-working athletes at the Academy.
He went to three local businesses and asked for their help in getting the labor done on the bus.
Wilson said he visited David’s Paint &Body, Novus Glass and Huskey Printing, and asked if they would give him a break on supply and labor cost.
Wilson surprised the students and faculty at the Academy after he said he was taking the bus to get it serviced.
He said it was worth all of the money and work to see the looks on the students’ faces.
Escambia Academy athletic director Heath Gibson said it was a great thing that Wilson did to the bus for the students. He added that Wilson only let him in on the secret after taking the bus.
