The St. Patrick’s Day-themed Celebrity Waiters event at David’s Catfish Monday was a night of fun and fundraising.
According to First National Bank &Trust vice president Rene’ Godwin, the event, hosted by the bank’s Relay for Life team, raised more than $7,500 for the charity.
Godwin said she thinks the reason the event raised so much more than last year’s $3,058 is because of a different setup for the event.
The new features Godwin mentioned were a social hour before the dinner and special door prizes.
Godwin said she has received a lot of positive feedback from the event.
Godwin also mentioned that the event was especially dear to the bank’s Relay team because of what the bank’s president, Shep Marsh, and his wife, Jan, have gone through with her recent battle with cancer.
Celebrity Waiter and County Commissioner Brandon Smith echoed the thought that Relay events like this one hold a special meaning for most everyone in town.
State Farm Insurance Agent Audrey Moon was also a celebrity waiter and said she was surprised at how much energy the event generated.
Celebrity Waiters, Caleb Dortch and Nick Drew, won for both “Best Decorated Table” and “Most Tips” and agreed to donate their winnings to the event. The duo raised $1,000 in tips.
Celebrity waiters for the event were Audrey Moon, Teresa Martin/Sharon Brown, Peggie Byrd, Lisa Swift, Robert Hudson, Kyle Davis, Adam Prestridge, Emilie Mims, Sheryl Vickery, Tray Smith, Brandon Smith, Ryan Carter, Judd Coley, Shep Marsh and Caleb Dortch/Nick Drew. Sharon Smith acted as Mistress of Ceremonies.
