Former Alabama player Simeon Castille is visiting Atmore today to speak to students Escambia County High School and members at First Assembly of God Church.
Castille is currently on the roster of the Cincinnati Bengals and got some playing time last season as a rookie.
It’s great that an NFL player is taking the time to stop by and visit with children in Atmore.
Some athletes that call Atmore home stop by now and again but Castille has no real connection to the city other than his father, Jeremiah, once spoke here for the same reasons he is doing.
One good thing about Castille’s visit is that it shows children that there are still “good guys” out there when it comes to athletes.
Most of the time all we hear about is the athletes that get in trouble and argue for more money.
It’s nice to know that there are still players out there that are not afraid to do so good in this world and spread God’s word.
Castille is a player that is big in faith, which is something that was instilled in he and his brothers by their father and mother.
If anyone is coming to Atmore to speak to high schoolers and a youth group, I am glad that it’s him.
Simeon is a great guy that I had a couple classes with while at the University of Alabama.
He’s quiet, humble and is a great defensive back.
It seems as if his short time in the NFL has not taken him off this path and only made him an even better person.
I hope that all of the people who are able to hear him speak tomorrow enjoy what he has to say and take any advice he gives them to heart because he knows what he is talking about.
He has followed his dreams and is doing something that he loves at every practice during the week and at every game on Sunday.
So take it all in and listen to what one of the future stars of the NFL has to say.
