Lady Devil wants to be history teacher

Escambia County softball player Ashleigh Taylor is an active, intelligent student with a love for history and R&B music.
Taylor, a senior at ECHS, has her hand in almost any activity that she can at the school.
She is a member of the Blue Devils cheerleading squad as well as a member of the Future Educators Association, Student Government Association and has been inducted to the National Honor Society.
Taylor said she enjoys all of the activities she participates in especially cheerleading.
As for her time on the softball field, Taylor has come along as one of the Lady Blue Devils’ best batters.
Lady Blue Devils head coach William Casaday said she is what every coach wants in a student-athlete.
Taylor finds joy in playing softball and how much passion she puts into the games.
She said that her favorite part of softball is the intensity level that comes with competition.
Other than the intensity during the game, Taylor finds motivation before the first pitch.
She said that warming up with the other Lady Blue Devils gets her motivated.
According to her coach, Taylor’s softball talents have improved since last season with productivity increasing in the last few games.
Taylor said her best performances have come during the Lady Blue Devils last three games.
Outside of extracurricular activities, Taylor focuses on her job and schoolwork.
Taylor is a cashier at Winn-Dixie, and said she chose to take on a job to learn responsibility.
In school, the senior enjoys her social studies class.
Taylor said that she enjoys learning about the past, and added she hopes to further that enjoyment to a career.
To get to her goal of being a teacher, Taylor plans to attend college at Alabama State University after she graduates in May.
In her free time, Taylor likes to listen all kinds of music with her focus on R&B or hip-hop genres.
Taylor said her favorite musician is the Grammy-Award winning singer Alicia Keys. She added her favorite song is “Superwoman.”
As an outgoing student at ECHS, Taylor has accomplished several things and made a lot of memories.
She said her best memory is achieving all of the things she wanted to while enrolled.
