Cary Flavors

ATMORE - Ret. Lt. Cary Flavors Sr. 59, of Atmore died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at his residence after an illness.
Mr. Flavors was a native of Atmore and graduated from Escambia County Training School in 1968. He worked for the Atmore Police Department for more than 25 years before retiring in 2002. He was known as “the No. 1 fan” to the Escambia County High School Blue Devil football team. He was a member of the Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Shirley Flavors, his parents, Willie and Iree Flavors and one brother, Gene Flavors.
Those left to cherish his memories are his three daughters, Santanya (Michael) Crenshaw and Teresa (Marlon Sr.) Lee of Atmore and Rita Wright of Century, Fla.; one son, Cary Lee Flavors Jr. of Atmore; four sisters, Mary (Jack) Jackson of Dayton, Ohio, Dorothy Beasley of Pensacola, Fla., Eva (Clarence) Hightower of Camden, Del. and Carolyn DeShield of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Woodrow (Dorena) Longmire of Colorado Springs, Co. and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Bishop Willie L. Williams, Pastor of the Jones Street Holiness Church, officiating. Interment will be held in Fairview cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC officiating.
