Busy, busy weekend

The weekend was full of events taking place around Atmore with several supporting Atmore’s participation in Relay for Life.
Saturday morning started with ACH hosting its 5K run. They had a great turnout with 43 people taking the time to come out and support the American Cancer Society.
Right across the street from ACH, there was a car wash and bake sale supporting the Relay for Life effort as well. The participants over there were having a good time splashing each other with suds and water, while raising money. It’s really nice to see people coming out to volunteer or donate some part of their time to help this worthy cause.
In between sections of the run, I stopped in to grab a few pictures of the carwash and found myself dumbfounded when Alan Ash came down East Laurel Street to the finish line before I could get back over there to get the picture of the first place finisher.
It’s amazing how one person can be so quick and have so much stamina to finish a race that fast.
After catching my breath from the two events of that morning, I made my way out to Canoe United Methodist Church for its Easter Egg Hunt. Nothing like watching little children run around in a field looking around for eggs filled with goodies.
It is always nice to see families still taking the opportunity to go out and participate in events like this. Shows that there is still good, wholesome fun around.
To close out the day I attended Escambia Academy’s prom and Creek Indians Enterprises Spring Dance, which was another Relay for Life event.
The prom at EA was really cool to see because it’s done so much more different than the proms in Birmingham.
Usually pictures with friends and family take place before a prom and family is not at lead out. It was cool to see all of the parents, siblings and friends show up for thie big event.
