Preparing your upstart football team for its first-ever football season is a tough task but that is just part of the job South Alabama Jaguars head coach Joey Jones is facing with his team.
Outside of practice, Jones and his staff are out on the recruiting trail as well as trying to find teams to play in upcoming seasons.
Jones said that currently he and his staff are evaluating recruiting talent they might want to go after.
Recruiting is tough in general because of the fight that elite programs put up, but for an brand new program it makes it even tougher because of the lack of tradition.
Jones said when he is on the recruiting trail he spills out all of the great things that the Jaguars program has to offer including its location.
Aside from recruiting players, the Jaguars are recruiting opponents for their future schedules.
Two weeks ago, the Jaguars signed a contract with the North Carolina State Wolfpack and they have already signed contracts to play the University of Tennessee and the Naval Academy.
Jones said its great to sign on to play teams like this because it shows the direction of the team. He added that it is hard to find teams to play because conference match ups take up so many weeks.
