In order to spread information about diabetes awareness the Lions Club in conjunction Baptist Health Care is hosting a STRIDES: Lions Walk for Diabetes Awareness on Friday, April 24 at Tom Byrne Park.
Lion Patty Helton-Davis, membership chair for the Atmore Lions Club, said the club is putting on the event as well as an educational seminar to help get facts and awareness to the community.
April is Diabetes Awareness Month and in sponsoring the walk, Atmore Mayor Howard Shell has proclaimed next Friday as STRIDES: Lions Walk for Diabetes Awareness Day.
Davis said that the Lions Club wants to help support the community.
Before the STRIDES walk on Friday, the Lions Club and Baptist Health Care are sponsoring a seminar for people to learn more about the disease.
Davis said the event will allow people to learn more about diabetes from a doctor.
