Ladies and gentlemen start your engines and head out to Flomaton Speedway tonight to see Sprint Cup driver Kenny Wallace take to the dirt track and race against Atmore, Brewton and Flomaton’s local drivers.
Wallace will visit the track tonight, and he will compete in the I.M.C.A. modified class for a chance at a $1,200 prize.
Speedway owner Jimmy Goodwin said he has been talking to Wallace for the past few months about coming to the track.
The date that Goodwin planned out works well with the NASCAR schedule as the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be racing at the Talladega Superspeedway this weekend.
Goodwin said it took a lot of work to make this event happen. He added the he hopes to make it a yearly event with a different NASCAR driver visiting the track.
The largest thing that Goodwin hopes attracts racers out is that they will be competing against a driver who was a Sprint Cup regular for a number of years.
He said that a lot of the drivers want a chance to outrace Wallace.
Also racing on the night of the modifieds will be the street stock and bomber cars. Street stocks will be competing for $1,000, while the bombers are fighting for a $500 prize.
Wallace will also be taking the time to sign autographs from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The event is being sponsored by Butler-U-Pull-It. For more information contact Jimmy Goodwin at 251-296-3478 or 850-712-4708.
Races start 8 p.m. after local church services.
