Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is going proven to be fun at the YMCA Healthy Kids Day this Saturday.
The Atmore Area YMCA is hosting Healthy Kids Day in order to show families that living healthy does not always have to be about eating right and exercise.
The event, which is taking place at 1,700 YMCAs across the country has been held in Atmore for several years.
Tammy Graham, executive director for the Atmore YMCA, said the point of the event is to show people that staying healthy can be fun.
At Atmore’s Healthy Kids Day, there will be a lot of fun and games for children to take part in.
Graham said a fun day for children and their parents has been put together. She added there will be prizes for certain children and parents.
As a way to promote more healthy living the YMCA is also providing refreshments.
Graham said that there is going to be food provided at the event, which will be purchased from a local grocery store.
To help fund Healthy Kids Day, the YMCA has also received a $500 grant from the Alabama State Department of Education, which will go to purchase the food and other supplies needed.
