The Cougars of Canoe opened up spring practice on Tuesday with the desire to forget about last season’s 0-11 disaster.
The Cougars took the field for non-contact drills and to begin finding out what aspects of its game need to be worked on.
Cougars head coach Heath Gibson said the attitudes of his team have been all positive since they took the field.
The main purpose of the spring practices is to get back to the basics, according to Gibson.
He said that he had his players working on several things that just focus on getting back into a football mindset.
Along with conditioning, the Cougars are learning what they will do on the field for offense and defense.
Gibson said he is just giving his guys a look at how formations and plays are going to set up.
On offense, the Cougars are going to line up in a Wing-T formation to focus on clock management.
Defensively, Gibson is going to have his players play a 4-3 formation to fit the players on his team.
He said these formations should get the most out of his squad.
