Atmore area residents will rally together next week to pray for their local, state and national leaders in observance of National Day of Prayer.
The Atmore city council issued a proclamation last Monday stating that the city will recognize Thursday, May 7 as National Day of Prayer, a request made by several local residents.
Sharon Keesler, chairman of Atmore’s National Day of Prayer committee, said she was pleased by the council’s response to the group’s request.
Committee member Nancy Helton was also pleased by the council’s response to their request, adding that prayer is needed now more than ever.
Keesler, who organized NDP events in Fort Wayne, Ind., said she wants the event to be about the community as a whole.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. on May 7 in front of city hall. If it rains, the event will be held in the auditorium.
There will not be seating, so bring your lawn chairs.
