At age 72, Hugh Long has been running for nearly 50 years.
This past weekend, Long took home top honors in the Pensacola Fiesta 10K for his age group- 70 to 74 years old.
Long, who owns Long Chiropractic Center, said he runs in similar races throughout the area and generally participates in eight to 10 a year.
Long crossed the finish line at 60:17, but said he was disappointed with his time.
Long said he runs around the streets near his house located at Tatum Avenue.
Long said there is no big reason why he runs other than he likes it.
As for training for these events, Long said he may add some length to his routine, but does not go out of his way.
He said he’s not sure what race he will run in next, but continues to keep up the activity for as long as possible.
