ATMORE - Mr. Earl Jackson, 71, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at a Mobile hospital.
Earl was a native of Bay Springs, Fla. and a resident of Atmore for most of his life. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he was employee of the month several times in his 20-year employment with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and was always willing to help others. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing and coon hunting and attended the Perdido Church of God.
A son, Kenneth Earl Jackson; two brothers, Alton Jackson and Johnny Jackson and two sisters, Vivian Hobbs and Lizzie Pearl Wilson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann Jackson of Poarch; three daughters, Linda Faye Hadley of Perdido, Donna Pearl Jackson (Jess Taylor) of Rabon, Rachel Darlene Varner (Jimmy) of Latham; four grandchildren, Jay Kenny Milstid (Kelly Hadley), Joyce Marie Milstid (Greg Rolin), Kyanne Hadley and Cheyanne Hadley; two step-grandchildren, Darrell Varner and Debra Lands; six great grandchildren, Samantha Danyelle Cain, Tyler Jay Milstid, Kenny Earl Milstid, Jacob McGhee, Summer Pearl Rolin and Mahala Marie Rolin; his brother, Fay Jackson (Martha Jane) of Poarch; two sisters, Anna Lucille Sells of Poarch and Carrie Jane Leonard of Pace, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Mable Jackson of Poarch; three special nieces, Judy Strickland, Vicky Sells Burns and Tera Coon and a special nephew, Donnie Jackson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday May 3, 2009 at the Perdido Baptist church with the Rev. Scott Brooks and the Bro. Wendell Hadley officiating. Burial followed at Judson/Creek Indian cemetery with Petty Funeral Homes, LLC directing. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until funeral time at the Perdido Church of God.
Pallbearers were Donnie Jackson, Ronnie Jackson, Eddie Jackson, Darrell Sells, Jimmy Wilson and James Shelton Sells. Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Milstid and Kenny Milstid.
