Tommy McCrory was awakened suddenly Tuesday morning at his home located at 76 Woods Road by what he thought was “thunder.”
But once he peered through the window from his bedroom, he was shocked to see a car resting in his front yard near his porch.
Marlon Kendrick Fisher, 35, of Atmore was arrested by an Alabama State Trooper and charged with driving under the influence after driving a 2003 Nissan Altima through McCrory’s fenced-in yard just after 7 a.m. causing severe damage to the property and vehicle.
The chain link fence around the perimeter of McCrory’s home was torn down during the accident and the car also struck the corner of the house breaking bricks and blocks. Grass in the front yard and a crepe myrtle were also damaged.
Tuesday’s accident was not the first time an accident has occurred in McCrory’s front yard.
Despite the damage caused to his property, McCrory said he was especially thankful no one was injured in the crash.
Fisher was arrested at the scene.
