ATMORE - Mrs. Myrtie McGhee Presley, 86, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at a local hospital.
Myrtie was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. She was retired from the Escambia County Board of Education for Huxford Elementary School. She was a member of the Poarch SAIL Center, loved to travel with senior citizens and attended the Friendly Holiness Church.
Her husband, Gillis Presley; a daughter, Maurine Presley Rolin and a brother, Ralph Gardner preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Donald L. Presley of Poarch, Terry Wall and Chester Elvis (Katie) Presley, both of Atmore; two daughters, Yvonnie Presley (Patrick) Crenshaw and Myra Presley (Dannie) King, both of Atmore; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Obie Lee McGhee of Excel and a sister, Laverne Pohronezny of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Friendly Holiness Church with the Rev. Ray Ward officiating. Burial will follow at the New Home Cemetery with Petty Funeral Homes, LLC directing. Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. today, Wed., May 13, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Darrin Presley, Clint King, Ronnie Rolin, R.D. Powell, Wayne McCurdy and James Cross. Honorary pallbearer will be Tim Darnell.
