Fire trucks zoomed down Presley Street at around 9 p.m. Sunday night to a house fire. The fire department responded thanks to a passerby calling and reporting smoke coming from the house, located at 1129 S. Presley St.
According to Atmore Fire Chief Gerry McGhee, no one was hurt in the fire because the house was currently not being lived in due to health problems by its usual occupant.
McGhee added that the fire did not damage the main part of the house.
McGhee said the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
McGhee said the family of the house’s occupant has been notified of the fire.
He said this fire was not thought to be related to the recent string of arson fires, which have targeted abandoned structures.
