McDonald hits home run in win

Cal Ripken Major League’s United Bank Warriors started off the week strong with a 7-1 victory over the Atmore Lions Club Cardinals at Tom Byrne Park on Monday night.
The Warriors got off to a quick start in the first inning as Aaron McDonald knocked the third pitch he received out of the park for a solo home run as the Warriors jumped out to a quick lead.
In the second inning, the Warriors added four more runs as Hunter Sherouse, Tanner Plant, Tre Lee, Blake Allen and Brodie Amos all crossed the plate. Sherouse started the inning with a single, which was followed by Plant and Lee reaching base on walks. They were all knocked in by Allen’s single. Allen was knocked in on the next at-bat as Amos ripped a double into play. Amos scored off of Nate Smith’s single before the inning ended.
Dalton Simmons scored the Cardinals lone run in the bottom of the second as he reached base on an error by the catcher and scored on Alex Rice’s single.
The Warriors scored their final run ini the fifth inning as Chris Kilpatrick was walked and scored on Aaron McDonald’s single to give the Warriors the huge win.

Fans at Tom Byrne Park witnessed a close 9-6 win by the Atmore VFW Rangers over the First National Bank &Trust Athletics on Monday night in a match up of Cal Ripken Major League teams.
J.P. Sawyer and Scotty Lambert started the scoring in the game as the Athletics jumped on top 2-0 in the top of the first inning. Sawyer and Lambert reached base on walks and scored off of Garrett Kirk’s single.
The Rangers got on the board in the second inning as Marlon Lee was walked and knocked in by Levi Solomon’s RBI-single.
The Athletics added three more runs in the third inning as Lambert, Clay Walker and Tristan Brown all made the trip around the bases to score.
The Rangers grabbed control of the game to take a 6-5 lead as Drake Lassiter, Perry Metzler, D’man McCarthy, Lee and Nytorious Cooler all crossed the plate.
The Athletics tied the game in the fourth inning with Saywer scoring his second run of the game, but the Rangers picked up the win in their half of the inning with Lassiter, Metzler and McCarthy scoring their second runs of the game.

Tristan McAnally led the Atmore Rotary Club Tigers with two runs scored in their 5-3 win over the First National Bank &Trust Athletics on Saturday at Tom Byrne Park.
McAnally hit 2-for-3 in the win with a single and a double to go with his two scores.
The Tigers struck first in the game as McAnally, Tanner Smith and Coby Smith all reached base and scored to take a 3-0 lead.
The Athletics got on the board in the second inning as Clay Walker was walked and knocked in by Efrem Abrams to pull within two runs.
The Tigers added their final two runs as Christian Thorpe and McAnally both made it on base via singles with the two scoring on an error by the catcher.
The Athletics final runs were scored by Ladarius Johnson in the fifth inning and Garrett Kirk in the sixth inning.
