The Advance wins 15 APA awards

The Atmore Advance recently won 15 awards in the Alabama Press Association’s 2009 Better Newspaper contests.
In editorial, The Advance won second place for Best Local Education Coverage and Best Special Section for its Horizons 2008 and won third place for Best Presswork, Best Lifestyles/Family Pages and Best Local Economic Coverage.
Publisher Adam Prestridge won first-place honors for Best Local Sports Column for “A big Little League memory,” first and second place in the Best News Photo category for “Marty’s takes big hit” and “Pritchett to fill seat” respectively; second place for Best Business Story for “Reaching new heights” and third place for Best Editorial for “Hines, BOE operate in secret.”
In advertising, composer Stacie Spencer won third place for Best In-Paper Promotion of Newspaper, Best Advertising Campaign and Best Use of Humor.
Spencer and advertising representative Michelle Smith teamed up to win first place in Best One-Time Special Section for The Advance’s "Fall Recipe Guide.” The paper also won first place in the the Best Classified Ad category.
