Last week, the council approved a one-year lease of 15 acres of land to the Tribe for use as a landing pad for the 178-foot long airship.
According to a letter from PCI Gaming Authority Director of Purchasing Cody Williamson addressed to the Atmore council, the airship will be used to market the Wind Creek Casino &Hotel by traveling around the southeast marketing the casino, bringing potential customers from throughout the southeast to the Atmore area. The blimp will begin its stay in Atmore July 1.
According to Alisha Wingerter, account executive for The Ramey Agency, the marketing company in charge of the blimp, it is the new A-170 Lightship and is considered one of the most technologically-advanced airships in the world. The airship is also equipped with a massive 70-foot by 30-foot full color LED video screen.
