ATMORE - Mrs. Annie Bell Quarker, 99, of Atmore (Freemanville Community) slept away to eternal rest on Friday, June 5, 2009 at her residence.
She was a native of Monroe County and had lived in Escambia County for over 80 years. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Freemanville,
Her husband, the Rev. S.L. Quarker; her parents, Mary and George Rothschild; three daughters, Rosa Maryland, Rosie Lee Sharpe and Flora Crawley and three sons, Charlie Quarker, Robert Louis Quarker and Shelly Quarker Jr. preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memories are four daughters, Mary (Bishop Purvis) McMillan of Atmore, Emma Lancaster, West of Brewton, Marcetta (Eddie) McCreary and Thelma (Silas) Boykin of Los Angles, Calif.; three sons, William (Ella Mae) Quarker of Los Angeles, Calif., Roy (Mary) Quarker and Kenneth Quarker of Atmore and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church cemetery in Freemanville with the Rev. Robert Davis, pastor, officiating. Inhumation will be in the Pierce/Rabb cemetery in Freemanville. Public viewing will be held from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and her body will lie instate at the Church one hour prior to the funeral service with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
