County OKs speed limits

Escambia County Commissioners were busy taking action to keep citizens of the county as safe as possible Monday by posting new speed limits on two county roads.
Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith said speed on Deer Creek Road near Atmore has been an issue for some time.
County Engineer Bill Bridges commented on the conditions on Deer Creek Road and suggested changes in the area.
Another area of concern brought before the commission was Nelson Road just south of Brewton.
District 4 Commissioner Raymond Wiggins said the area is also in need of having speed problems addressed.
Bridges recommended speed limits of 25 miles per hour be posted on the roadway with speed advisories placed along two curves in the area as well.
Commissioners approved the changes on both county roads and agreed to follow the recommendations of Bridges. New speed limit and speed advisory signs will be posted in the area soon, Bridges said.
