With school just more than a month away and football season to begin just shortly after, the Escambia Academy Cougars have gone full throttle into their off season workouts looking to improve their strength and speed.
The Cougars are hoping to get into better condition for their season opener on the road at Sparta on Aug. 21
Academy head coach Heath Gibson said workouts have been progressive with the Cougars improving in all areas.
The Cougars have been doing all of their core lifts as well as exercises to improve their speed and conditioning, according to Gibson.
Gibson said with each practice, the players get a little better at all of the activities they participate in.
The goal for the Cougars’ football program is to be as physical as possible this season, while also being in shape.
Gibson said that he has seen a strong work ethic to allow him to think that his team should be ready for their first game.
