Dozens of people spent part of their Fourth of July weekend praying for the nation in front of the Escambia County Courthouse.
The local TEA — Taxed Enough Already — Party group met Saturday for what organizer Danny Joyner said was a peaceful demonstration.
Local pastors were invited to stand and pray for the United States, the military and the leaders of the country. Those attending included the Rev. Jack Fitts, the Rev. John Finklea, the Rev. Thomas Quick, the Rev. George Weaver and the Rev. James Meadows.
The local meeting was one of many across the country, Joyner said.
Joyner said he hoped future meetings would put a focus on the group’s ideals.
We need to get back on track and this is our way of speaking out about it.”
