Just a little more than a week after being arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and being released on $100,000 bond an Escambia County (Ala.) resident has been arrested again for allegedly threatening a witness in another impending case in Escambia County (Fla.).
Scottie Ladon Smith, 39, of Canoe was arrested by Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff deputies after a short chase on North Canoe Road.
Smith was arrested after a warrant was sworn out on him by the Sheriff’s department in Escambia County (Fla.), which charged him with intimidating a witness in another case that involves him.
Smith was already out on bond for a case in the State of Florida where he was taken into custody on Oct. 21, 2008 with two felonies being charged against him.
Smith allegedly fired a shotgun into a vehicle that was being driven by 23-year-old Jackson Grimes.
Escambia County (Ala.) Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the sheriff’s office in Florida sent paperwork to his office earlier in the week.
Smith is now being held in Escambia County’s jail in Brewton where a motion has been filed to revoke his previous bond.
The driver of the vehicle that Smith was traveling has also been taken into custody by deputies.
Charlie Eugene Dean, 53, of 10393 Jack Springs Road in Atmore was arrested on outstanding warrants sworn out by the U.S. Marshal’s office involving prior drug charges.
