Due to a recent increase in car break-ins, the Atmore Police Department is reminding residents to be proactive in preventing theft.
"We are having a lot of break-ins, but not in one specific area, it’s all over town," Chuck Brooks, an investigator with the APD, said Friday. "We're telling people to lock your cars and secure your valuables in your cars."
Brooks said the most recent break in was Thursday evening, with three unlocked cars having items taken from them. Brooks said there have been car windows broken in other incidents.
He asked that if you see any unusual activity in your neighborhood, contact the Atmore Police Department at 368-9141.
