In its third year, the Stomp the Yard event is continuing in its mission to bring youth closer to the Lord with a day of fun and fellowship.
The youth event, which is sponsored by Dr. Bernard Bishop Ministries in association with Deliverance Ministry of Jesus Christ Inc., will begin at 11 a.m. on July 25 at Houston Avery Park and will feature live entertainment, free food and games.
Bernard Bishop said he and his wife, Evangelist Felicia Bishop, hold the event to unite the community as well as to show their appreciation for it.
Felicia Bishop said most importantly the event was about giving back and uniting people all in the name of the Lord.
Felicia Bishop said one of the main highlights of the event is the presentation of a scholarship to a local teenager.
The scholarship will be rewarded based on a submitted essay on the topic of “What influence has my church had on my life.”
Deadline for scholarship entries is July 22. Entries may be mailed to 455 Kenneth Rd., Atmore, AL 36502, Attn: Stomp the Yard.
Live entertainment at Stomp the Yard will feature artists including Big Show, a gospel rapper from Mobile; Psalmist, Felicia Bishop, Atmore’s Mayfest Idol; the Deltas Sorority and more.
Also, there will be events including basketball, softball, ping-pong, relay races, tennis and a special dance competition with awards being given out for each event.
A final coordinators meeting for Stomp the Yard will be held at 6 p.m. on July 22 at Deliverance Ministries.
