Ronnie Cloud, owner of Alabama Wing House, has decided to play his hand and host a Texas Hold’em Poker League for nine weeks beginning this Thursday.
Alabama Wing House, which opened in April 20, has become one of Atmore’s top restaurants thanks in part to its own style of wings.
Cloud said hosting the idea of holding a poker league came up as a way to bring in more customers.
For Cloud, poker issomething fun to play and watch. He said he has played in more than a dozen tournaments.
Cloud said he has seen what can come from poker tournaments by witnessing the ones he has participated in. He added that he is not the strongest poker player.
There are no rules or requirements to play in the tournament, but you do need to come ready to have fun.
Cloud said he is not going to require a buy-in or for a purchase to be made, and added he just wants to see people have a good time.
The first night of the league will start Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and will progress over the next nine weeks.
Cloud said the goal is for there to be a different winner every week leading up to the 10th week with a final table. He added in the case of multiple winners an exception will be made.
The rules of the game are simple and follow standard playing rules with everyone starting out with the same amount of money.
Every half-hour blinds will double and as people fall out of the tournament, tables will begin to combine.
Cloud said the only thing that limits the tournament is the number of seats that are available
Hands are dealt Thursda nights at 6:30 p.m. To sign up call 446-4000.
