A two-car accident at the 59.7-mile mark on Interstate 65 sent four people to the hospital, two by LifeFlight and two by ambulance this morning.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:35 a.m. when driver Mirla Sease of Victoria, Texas in a 2003 Jeep Liberty ran into the back of a trailer.
The trailer was attached to a 2007 Chevy pick-up truck. Both the truck and trailer were loaded down with roadside debris and had workers riding on them. After striking the trailer, the Jeep careened of the right side of the road. Both Sease and passenger, Norma Alvarado, 21, also of Victoria, Texas, were taken by ambulance to Atmore Community Hospital.
Two workers, Marcus Prim, 19, of Bay Minette and Sherman McMillian, 17, of Loxley, who were said to be riding on the trailer were seriously injured and taken by LifeFlight to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Alabama Highway Patrol, Atmore Police Department, Poarch Fire Department and Atmore Ambulance responded to the scene.
The accident is still under investigation and is being handled by Trooper Wesley Davis.
