Over the past eight weeks, readers have been introduced to six senior citizens who regularly visit the Atmore SAIL Center.
Every year these seniors take part in the Senior Olympics Masters Games, which have district games in Mobile, Orange Beach and Poarch.
There is also a larger state competition in Florence where close 1,000 people will come together and compete to be called the best in their age group.
This series featured just seven of the events that they compete in because some events were not possible to report on because the SAIL Center does not have the equipment available.
Taking on this project was interesting because I never fully understood how the Senior Olympics were played.
Now I see that they have specific rules and split the competitors into male and female groups and then split them more by age groups.
All of the events are interesting because they each bring a new challenge to the seniors.
