With the nation’s economy looking like it could possibly be on the rebound, Atmore’s economy could also start to rebound if resident’s taste buds take over and draw them to the newest business in town, Cutie Pies Bakery and Supplies.
Cutie Pies opened last week across from the post office and has received a steady flow of traffic, according to owner Renee Scott.
With her business surrounded by several others, Cutie Pies is partially hidden from the public, but that has not stopped people from noticing the bakery.
Scott said being located across from the post office is a big plus, and has generally helped business.
With only one other bakery in town, Cutie Pies could give Atmore a change of pace because it could help keep people who like to bake in town.
Scott said she decided to open the bakery because she has been baking cakes for several years and baking is something she loves. She added that she hopes her business helps boost the economy as well as save people money.
Cutie Pies does it all with cakes, cookies, brownies, pies, petit fours and other baked goods.
Scott said she also wants to draw in customers with one special product that her bakery has.
For the future of Cutie Pies, Scott said she has several ideas in mind to help draw in crowds.
She said she would like to begin serving lunch as well as weekly specials.
Cutie Pies is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday. Hours for Monday through Friday are 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday.
