Helmets are out of the lockers and back on the heads of Escambia County High School’s Blue Devils football squad as the opened up their fall practices Monday morning.
The Blue Devils are having two-a-day practices with one in the morning and one in the afternoon and are looking to bounce back from a 3-7 season in their return to Class 5A last year.
Blue Devils head coach Kyle Davis said his team has looked strong since taking the field Monday morning.
The first few days of practice will have the players in helmets only as their bodies get acquainted with the heat that is beating down on Atmore right now.
With helmets only practice right now, Davis said it is hard to judge where the team is officially.
Even without pads on, the coaches have seen strong points from the Blue Devils squad.
Davis said the biggest strength he has seen from the players is their ability to work hard.
