WALNUT HILL, Fla. - Richard Wayne Burkette, 72, of Walnut Hill, Fla. died Friday, July 31, 2009 at his residence.
He was a river boat captain born in Butler County on Aug. 10, 1936 to the late, Guy and Lizzie Belle Bass Burkette.
His wife, Virginia Claudett Burkette and a grandson, Ryan Burkette.
Survivors include, three sons, Mark J. Burkette and wife, Blair of Bay Minette, Richard W. Burkette Jr. and wife, Janet of Mobile, Guy Burkette and wife, Chollette of Quincy, Fla.; one daughter, Karen Burkette of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, James Burkette and wife, Lona of Carabelle, Fla. and eight grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
