U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner will make a brief visit to Atmore Thursday morning as one of many stops along his tour of all six counties making up the First Congressional District scheduled this week.
According to spokesperson Nancy Wall, Bonner has 19 town hall meetings scheduled throughout the week.
According to Bonner, the purpose of his town hall meetings are to hear first-hand the concerns of the voters.
Members of Congress often schedule town hall-style meetings in their districts during their August recess. This year many lawmakers — mostly Democrats — have been met with angry constituents at their town halls this summer, with questions almost exclusively about healthcare reform.
As for Atmore, Bonner said he is excited for what the future holds.
Bonner will be in Atmore from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the auditorium on the Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ Reservation.
By the end of this month, Bonner will have held 204 official town meetings throughout the First District.
