ATMORE - Mr. George Robert “Sonny”, (Uncle GeeGee) Price, 71, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009 at a Mobile Hospital.
George was a native of Cape Charles, Va. a former resident of Carriere, Miss., a resident of Atmore for the past six years and attended St. Anna’s Episcopal Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was also an avid fisherman and loved the water.
Two sons, George Robert Price Jr. and Tracey Price preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Holland of Atmore; two sons, Burleigh Lee “Buba” Price of Cape Charles, Va. and Michael Corey of Carriere, Miss.; three daughters, Hope Louise Brady of Cape Charles, Va., Jennifer Marie Colbert of Cantonment, Fla. and April Ann Smith of Carriere, Miss.; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Burleigh N. Price of Slidell, La.; a sister, Mary Frances Bennett of Onancock, Va. and a half sister, Anita Hill of Cantonment, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 26, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Father Milledge Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Judson/Creek Indian Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
