Deciding to be closer to God can be a life altering decision that takes a lot of thought and discussion.
Atmore native and Baldwin County parole officer Mitchell Hughes did a lot of thinking and discussing it with his wife when he decided to become the youth director for the First Presbyterian Church of Atmore.
Hughes said the decision to become the youth director was something he and his wife felt was right.
In deciding to become the director of the First Presbyterian youth program, Hughes and his wife are going to take an friendly approach to the job.
Hughes said they know they can do a good job of building the program at the church if they build relationships with the youth that are there. He added they are in the early stages of setting up a Sunday night worship service for the younger members.
At this point, the youth participation at the First Presbyterian Church is low, but Hughes hopes to see an increase when the services begin.
Hughes said the experience at the church has been great and he looks forward to strengthening the youth membership.
