The Atmore Rotary Club and the Atmore Lions Club have really scored big in the week when football is beginning the 2009 season.
Joey Jones, the new head coach of the University of South Alabama, will be the featured speaker on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the combined meeting of the Rotary Club and Lions Club.
Normally, the Rotary Club meets on Tuesdays and the Lions Club on Wednesdays, but circumstances caused some changes in their schedules.
Bobby Davis, a member of the Rotary Club was in charge of the September meeting and he had the idea to call his brother, Wayne Davis, who is the chief financial officer for the University of South Alabama.
Jones won’t be coming alone. Davis said that his brother will also make the trip along with South Alabama’s Athletic Director, Joe Erdman, and Brad Sexton, who is in charge of ticket sales.
Jodi Peacock, president of the Lions Club said they were very pleased with the turn of events.
