After weeks of training in the summer heat with their new head coach, the Northview Chiefs begin their season Friday with a home game against the Graceville Tigers.
The Chiefs (0-0, 0-0) have had an up and down season, which featured a surprising coaching change that has left former assistant coach Sid Wheatley at the reins.
Wheatley said he is excited about his first game as the head coach. He added he is proud of the work ethic his players have put forth during the off season.
Graceville finished last season 8-2 and brings back a powerful tandem that make up the core of linebackers as well as their backfield.
Wheatley said the focus has been preparing for Graceville using their big guns.
Defensively, the Chiefs are working to avoid giving up ground to the Tigers.
The Chiefs and Tigers kick off at 7 p.m. at Northview in Bratt, Fla.
