ATMORE - Mr. Roy L. Burkett, 75, of Atmore passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009.
He was born Feb. 12, 1934 in Monroe County and had been a longtime resident of Atmore.
Mr. Burkett retired from Monsanto after 40 years of service. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Atmore for the past two years.
His parents, James Claude and Pattie Lee Crawford Burkett and two sisters, Helen Burkett and Pauline Womack, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Betty M. Burkett of Atmore; daughter, Christy Neff of Colorado; son, Jason Eric Burkett of Tallahassee, Fla.; sister, Hazel Smith of Atmore; brother, James A. Burkett of Atmore and one granddaughter, Lisa Coleen Neff.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of Atmore with the Rev. Jim Thorpe officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
For those who desire, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Youth or to the First Baptist Church Restoration and Renewal Fund.
