Man shot during argument in Nokomis

Officers with the Atmore Police Department and deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting early Thursday night on Nathan Road in Nokomis.
According to witnesses at the scene, the victim and the shooter were arguing over a ladder leaning up against a mobile home, while residents were gathered around a fire in the trailer park. The shooting occurred just after 7 p.m.
Paramedics with Atmore Ambulance transported the victim, whose name has not been released, to the emergency room at Atmore Community Hospital. Life Flight later airlifted the male patient to Pensacola, Fla. The extent of the victims' injuries are unknown.
The shooter, who has also not been identified, fled the scene in a blue and silver, late 80s model van. Authorities believe he is still armed with a pistol.
Rescue personnel with Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the crime scene.
